ABC Pre-school Invades the Courthouse!

In December I was in charge of scheduling the field trip, and with life being crazy that time of year, I put it off till the last minute. It was supposed to be at either the Festival of Trees or the swimming pool. When I called for info, the Festival of Trees cost a fortune and the pool was closed on the Fridays in December. So we ended up going to McDonald's for our field trip that month. Exciting for the kids, not so exciting for the moms.

So this time it was my turn to plan the field trip and I decided I'd better plan ahead and make up for last time. First we had the field trip at the airport. That was fun, but hey, let's face it -- it was the Lander airport. We saw some little planes and that was about all that was there. But then this last Friday we went to the courthouse, and that was a success. A double-header field trip. I think I did my duty.

Even Lizzie enjoyed the field trip.

The kids loved the canon.
They weren't super quiet... good thing court wasn't really in session!
We had to give Court Security a hard time. Don't worry -- we didn't bring any real weapons with us.
Kristi bought all the kids candy. Thanks, Kristi!
The few seconds they held still:
Phil let them leave the courtroom only if they answered several questions correctly, including: "Do you like pizza?" What if they hadn't liked pizza? Would they be in jail?
Chandler likes being a judge.
So do Rebecca and Kelton
And Rebecca and Kaykay
Check out the district court room
"oooh, it's all red!" -- Rebecca

Let's serve on a jury.
Lizzie does not like being a judge.
We can be a circuit court judge too!

The metal detector was an exciting part of the day. Phil slipped a matchbox car into Kelton's pocket so that he set the metal detector off. Naughty Kelton, bringing cars to court! Ironically, Brandon really had brought a car with him so he set off the detector too!
This is the same metal detector that we sent Rebecca through repeatedly to see if her nickel had "passed" yet. :)

Where's Lizzie?
