The Whiting Family's Christmas Gift

Remember many months ago when I asked you to keep James' mom in your prayers as she headed to the Mayo Clinic to try to figure out what had been plaguing her for these past five years? The Mayo Clinic didn't find answers to the mystery. She had received a blessing that said the answer would be "stumbled upon." Well, this Christmas that answer was FINALLY stumbled upon and she is finally receiving relief little by little as her body heals.

It turns out that she has Celiac Disease, gluten intolerance. This is very familial so there's a good chance that several of the family members who have been having health problems also have this problem at the core of their problems. James' mom said that it is probably much more common than any of us realize. James hasn't been tested for it, but he could have it. If he did, then at least some of our children have it too. Right now none of them have any health problems, so we are very blessed.

It is exciting that the mystery has finally been solved. It is sad that she won't get to eat things like pizza and Arby's sandwiches and etc., but she said it is worth it to feel well again. She is figuring out how to eat without the gluten and buying gluten-free products.

So now say prayers of thanks that the down-hill side of this trial is finally on its way!
