Tonight is the big championship game. The team in 1st place, the Red Sox, would be undefeated if we hadn't beat them the last time we played them. In our tournament game against the 3rd place team we beat them 15 to 4. Ian had some awesome plays, including sliding in to 2nd and barely making it there safely before the other team threw the ball there.
Then the 4th place team, who was about to play the 1st place team in their tournament game, asked Ian and one other player to stay and play on their team because they've been short players all season (Jamey and Ian played for them in one other game also). We took the family home to eat dinner and then came back with Jamey to watch the game. Jamey had been very disappointed that they hadn't asked him to play. Well, they should have, because when we arrived, our coach hurried over to me and told me that he'd pulled Ian out of the game and replaced him with someone else because he was just sitting (literally) out there on the field and not helping the 4th place team at all. I was pretty upset with Ian because Jamey would have loved to play and he would have worked hard. The 1st place team beat the 4th place team by 12 to 1. I was sorta hoping the 4th place team would pull off a miracle and beat the 1st place team, so that we'd be playing the 4th place team in the tournament. No such luck. It will be a very exciting game tonight!
