The cousins came with us to watch the 4th of July parade. It was about the same as always, except James missed the beginning so he could take Ian to the ER to have his ankle x-rayed. Ian, who is on a first-name basis with all of the ER docs, had rolled his ankle while wrestling on the tramp, and it looks like it's just a sprain, although there's a chip out of it. But the doc said he wasn't sure if the chip happened this time, or if it happened that time that the school called and said he'd fallen off the monkey bars and hurt his ankle. He is wearing his ankle brace that he got back then. I thought he was made out of rubber - what's the deal with him hurting his ankle twice?

It was pretty hot and we left in such a hurry that we didn't bring water with us. Luckily the parade wasn't very long, and the kids got popcycles from some of the floats. We didn't mind getting wet a little bit from the floats, and Teancum didn't use his round sled to protect me at all.

There's our next-door neighbor Lucy (yellow) and our back-door neighbor Erna (blue) watching the parade right in front of us.

We look pretty excited, huh?

Fire trucks! Spray us!
