The Lander Whitings: Ammon & Kija Days: Park City

Well, it's about time I posted our Park City vacation/Call Family Reunion/ Ammon & Kija Days 2009. We are a bit late for Ammon/Kija Days, but Casey wasn't available on their actual birthdays, being in the Philippines and all, so we just had to postpone it till July.

The photo above is of our family watching the people ski off the slopes into the water at the Olympic Park. We were waiting for the rest of the Call crew to show up, so we went to see the sites of Park City.

When my mom, Casey, and Chris/Britt family arrived, we went to Main Street, where James backed into a pole in the parking garage. It left a small dent in our bumper, but nothing happened to the pole. Here we are riding the trolley up and down Main Street.

We stopped at the Cow ice cream shop for a treat. The highlight of this, besides the ice cream, of course, was sitting on the cow.

We walked down Main Street to the Marriott, where we stayed. We had great rooms and for a terrific price. The room my family stayed in had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room/kitchen area with a pull-out couch and two window seats for kids to sleep on. It had a dishwasher, washer & dryer, microwave, fridge, cupboard full of dishes, bar, and table. One of the bedrooms had a bed and a whirlpool tub and the other one had a bed with a pull-out couch. So there was places for all of us to sleep. They brought a crib up, free of charge, for Lizzie. The room cost $140 including tax. What a deal for a family-sized suite! Our family will definitely stay there again next summer. We have already decided to make this a Call tradition. There was no breakfast included, but we brought milk and cereal with us.

This is the Marriott. It has lots of villas and shops. This is the walk from the pool back to our villa. We stayed in that green building up ahead.

This is the waiting room at the hotel office. They decided to catch some Spongebob while they waited for us to check in to our rooms.

This is where Micah and Cameron slept. They enjoyed having their own tv. Jamey, Teancum, and Rebecca all ended up sleeping in there also.

This is the living room. There was also a tv in there. So we had 3 tv's for people to choose from. Funny how at least 2 of them always had the same thing on at the same time...(dang Spongebob)

Here is the walk from our place up to the pool. The pool was about a 5 minute walk from our villa, which was a bummer when it was cold, but it was doable. We spent a lot of time at the pool.

The pool also had a toy and game room. Micah spent a lot of time playing on the xbox and wii (sp?). Lizzie and Rebecca liked the toys.

Outside was a basketball court and some outdoor games like shuffleboard. We grabbed the picnic table and grill that were closest to the pool so that we could keep everyone in one centralized area. The only bummer was that there was not seats for everyone, but lots of us just sat on the basketball court to eat.

Lizzie got pretty worn out.

James was able to do some work from the room. He had phone calls and emails coming in the whole time.

That evening Cameron, Micah, Zak, and Caleb went to Curtis & Chad's room to tend their sleeping kids. Chris & Britt's kids came to our room to play games and watch movies, and all the adults came to our room to play scattegories and eat snacks.

The next morning after we ate breakfast, we went swimming again. We got there right when the pool opened and a bunch of ladies were doing aerobics in the pool. They seemed a little annoyed with our splashing kids. Soon Chris & Britt & kids joined us. We'd been there an hour or two when Eli jumped in and hit his head on the side of the pool. He started screaming and bleeding. Chris took him to get a staple in his head. After that we were all a little more cautious jumping in to the pool.

After we checked out of the hotel we went on a walk down the trail to the city park. The kids played until we all got too hungry to play anymore. Then we went to Wendy's for lunch. And that was the end of our Call Family Park City Reunion and the beginning of our Call Girls' Park City Getaway!

I would highly recommend Park City as a summer destination for family reunions or vacations. There are fun things to do there and lodging is cheap during the summer. The climate is nice also.
